Speedy Air Spares has been operating since January 2001 in Bundaberg, Queensland, originally supplying automotive air conditioning & heating components exclusively to trade customers.  As all businesses do, they evolve over time and become a labor of love rather than just a business model and this is precisely what happened to us.

My name is Jeremy May (Owner) and I did my time as an auto electrician starting my apprenticeship in 1993 with Charm City Auto Electrics in Bundaberg. I became a tradesman in 1997 but unfortunately my physical time on the tools was ended abruptly in December 1998 after sustaining a life changing spinal injury rendering me a Quadriplegic.  I was fortunate enough to be able to utilize my trade even after my accident as opportunities seemed to line up and through a friend, Anton, he got me a start in 1999 working for a company out of Rockhampton that were looking for a parts outlet between Rockhampton and Brisbane and I was right in the middle.  I had the trade contacts and I was lucky enough that the guys in the trade supported me and gave me a go at supplying parts to them.  This lasted successfully for 18 months and due to circumstances beyond my control the Rockhampton parent company had to scale down so I went out on my own in January 2001.

We supplied to trade only for around 7 years before I decided to get into my true interest, custom car air conditioning.  I have owned quite a few cars in the past, the first was a 1961 EK Holden that I bought when I was 15 years old, my favorite was my 1958 Chevy Biscayne that we saved from the shade of a mango tree that had been left in a backyard to die for 10 + years before returning it to road as a big and beautiful aqua and white 2 tone stunner, yes it had A/C and heating fitted.  There was a large demand for easy to install kits from Hot rods, muscle cars and classic originals that our customers could install themselves.  Over the next 10 years we really honed our knowledge on what works and what components will fit certain applications and operate as efficiently as possible.

I now design some of my own components such as the ‘Y diverter with a servo controlled butterfly flap’, the 12V fully electric heaters, HQ-WB 253 / 308 Compressor and alternator bracket sets and the worlds first A/C with electric heating combination under dash unit that we call ‘The Climate Changer’.

So when you contact Speedy Air Spares you can rest assured that we are not just another company that supplies air conditioning & heating components.  We design, build and source components suited to what you require backed with nearly 30 years of trade-based knowledge and experience behind us.
